OVERVIEW
Garrett's Communications team required an Advent Calendar to be implemented on the Corporate Intranet homepage.
OBJECTIVES
Design an Advent Calendar for Garrett's Corporate Intranet homepage which is built on the SharePoint platform.
The calendar will be displayed from December 1st to December 24th and feature a main background graphic of a house with 18 interactive windows—one for each business day leading up to December 24th. Each window will reveal a daily surprise. Behind these windows, users can click to reveal activities and seasonal articles, fostering holiday cheer and employee engagement throughout the festive season.

OUTCOME
The Garrett employees loved the Advent Calendar, which kept them engaged throughout the workweek. They eagerly awaited each day to discover the surprise hidden behind the windows leading up to December 24th. Because of its success in the first year, the Advent Calendar became an annual tradition featured on the Intranet homepage.
END-TO-END DESIGN PROCESS
1. Research: Researched Advent Calendar motifs and Christmas design trends to inform the creative process.
2. Ideation and Conceptualisation: Developed concepts that aligned with the overall Garrett branding and Microsoft SharePoint design constraints.
3. Design Execution: Created the Advent Calendar background and individual window images using Adobe XD.
4. Feedback and Iteration: Gathered feedback from stakeholders on the initial designs and incorporated necessary revisions based on the feedback received.
5. Finalise Design: Finalised the layout of the visuals and handed the image assets to the SharePoint developer to integrate it in the build.
6. Testing: Tested the design implemented in Microsoft SharePoint across across different web browsers and devices to ensure consistent performance and appearance for all users.
